Sakonnet Technology was founded in 1999 by technologists previously at JP Morgan. Sakonnet since then has been solely focused on the wholesale energy markets and the development of Xenon™, its Java-based energy trading and risk management system. Sakonnet offers Xenon™ on a unique subscription-based, hosted model, which enables clients to avoid up-front capital costs and separate maintenance and upgrade fees. The service can be expanded and new product functionality added easily with minimal administration costs. Sakonnet now employs 70 people and has offices in London, New York and Rio de Janeiro.

IRM's system solutions are specifically tailored to the requirements of deregulated markets and support the operative business as well as strategic planning. From structured procurement management (forecast, energy disposition, from simple registration and handling of an increasing number of procurement flows including schedule and balancing group management) to energy trading with portfolio / risk management (including complex risk and optimization functionalities) in the multi-commodity environment as well as in investment analysis and planning. Due to its long term experience, the company offers its know how in the consulting area: system optimization, liberalization, IT and energy trading. Initially, IRM AG was founded as a limited liability company in 1998. Commercial operation began in 1999 with 11 employees. After going public, the company established itself as a leading solution provider in Europe with more than 40 references in 16 countries and a staff of over 70.

Established in January 2002, the Center for E-Commerce Infrastructure Development (CECID) at the University of Hong Kong conducts e-commerce research and development with the vision of helping organizations increase their competitiveness in the global economy. CECID develops e-commerce enabling technologies, participates in important international e-commerce initiatives, supports e-commerce standardization for Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific Region, and transfers e-commerce technology and skills to the community. With projects primarily funded by the Hong Kong Government's Innovation and Technology Commission, CECID is an active member of OASIS and the ebXML Asia Committee. The Center also collaborates with a number of lead technology users in the Asia-Pacific Region on turning R & D results into real-life business applications. CECID's contributions to the community include its code donation of Hermes and ebMail to freebXML (http://www.freebxml.org) and the production of an in-depth design and management guide on XML schemas for the Hong Kong Government.
